Timeless Design

For many years divan bases were covered in a range of dull but busy floral fabrics. You know the one we mean, we all know someone who had one if we didn't have it ourselves. For many that still have this style base, they are now using valance sheets to cover our poor former choices. The best way to combat this in the future is to opt for a more plain and solid colour.

Use The Space

Not all divan beds have storage options included. This means that the space under your mattress is dead space! When it comes to investing in a new divan base, ensure that you are opting for one that includes storage, typically drawers are better than the previously seen sliding doors as they allow you to pull the drawer out to see the contents rather than crawling on the floor to see to the back.

Headboard Or Not?

Headboards serve a number of purposes, from keeping your pillows on the bed, to stopping you from marking the wall in your sleep. You can always go back and purchase a headboard after your bed frame, but we recommend investing in a divan with an attached, matching headboard.

Divan Or Ottoman

Divan's aren't the only choice on the market that offers a solid side between the floor and mattress. Or even that offers contained under bed storage. Ottoman beds are increasing in popularity, just like the divan once did. Ottomans allow you to easily lift your mattress to reveal additional storage thanks to the use of hydraulics in the hinge. With divan bases, you may lose some storage space due to drawers only opening so far or only covering so much of the space, whereas an ottoman allows you to use the full space.
