The 14th of February, otherwise known as the dreaded valentine’s day, conjures feelings of panic and stress for many significant others up and down the country.
Many partners will be spend the coming weekend scratching their heads trying think of a thoughtful gift, an aesthetically pleasing bunch of red roses, luxury belgian chocolates and bath bomb gift set come to mind.

The Traditional Rose Petals
Arguably the most traditional way to give your mattress that extra bit of panache. Scattering red rose petals over your mattress feels like it has been every valentine’s day since conception of the day.
Although this technique is potentially overused, sometimes the old ways are the best. Not many other sights carry connotations of love or are associated with valentine’s day as a double bed sporting the now famous red petals.
The Swan Towels
From one of the most traditional techniques to one of the newer ones. The swan towels can potentially be a disaster in the less skilled novices amongst us. But if you get this one right, your partner will be beyond impressed.
The swan towel technique is when you take two towels and mold them into the shape of two swans touching their beaks together.
If you are struggling to get establish your towel masterpiece, do not worry, we broken down the procedure step by step:
- Lie a towel flat
- Fold the top two corners downwards so they meet in the middle
- Roll the centre into the middle so they also meet
- You should not have an arrow shape, fold this into a Z shape
- Squeeze the corners to set the curves
- Simply repeat the process to a new towel position the towels so they are facing each other
- Now you have your two towel swans
Control the Scent
Whilst we have mainly focused on aesthetics, and this is understandable, there are more senses than your sight.
Before valentine’s day inevitably arrives, you will want to ensure the smell of your bedroom is equivalent to how impressive your bed looks.
We have found an excellent way of doing this is by investing in some scented candles and having them let well before the start of the evening so your room is filled with your chosen luxury smell. Additionally, a uniquely scented air freshener can be a sufficient substitute.
Decorating Your Headboard
When it comes constructing your valentine’s day bedroom masterpiece, the topping headboard is often overlooked.
By not correctly decorating your headboard you are missing out on valuable easy flavour to your room. We might recommend some nice shiny red tinsel or even a nice overthrow to give your room that bit of special something.
Coordinate Accordingly
For our final tip, we would suggest you coordinate accordingly. You can mix and match many different techniques but you have to ensure your room is consistent.
