A double mattress is approximately 135-140cm wide and 190cm long, most bed frames are wider and longer than this because the double size refers to the mattress that is due to sit on it, rather than the size of the bed itself, which can be wider and longer due to style and thickness of materials used, such as thick corner posts. Many bedframes are 10cm longer and 10cm wider than the mattress, some of more than this, some are less.
